News24.com recently reported on Jacob Zuma undermining the rights of women in South Africa. He made a comment saying that women are too quick to complain about sexual harassment. This comment is devastating in that it completely dismisses that sexual harassment in South Africa is rife. As of the 2014/2015 financial year, we have had 3476 reported new cases of rape. Sexual harassment often turns into the survivor being raped. In our opinion, Zuma should retract his statement and offer an apology. With South Africa having one of the highest rates of rape in the world, we cannot stand by and have sexual harassment dismissed.
